School Newsletter-April 2019

  • The senior boys qualified to compete at the FAI SPAR Primary 5s County Final for small schools at Solar 21 Park in Milebush.  The panel of eight boys came through their group to contest a semi-final against Brackloon N.S. The teams were level after ordinary time and even after extra time, and so the game had to be decided by a penalty shoot-out, which unfortunately Kilmovee lost on the narrowest of margins. Brackloon went on to be the eventual winners at County Level.
  • A  representative from the charity Bóthar delivered a presentation to the pupils of Fifth and Sixth Classes on the work undertaken by the organisation. She explained how it helps struggling families in countries across Africa, Asia, South America and Eastern Europe through the purchase and delivery of animals. Bóthar then works through local community groups empowering people within the community  to look after their life-changing gift and to help them on the road to self-sufficiency and sustainability. After hearing about this wonderful work, the pupils decided to donate some of the money they will receive as Confirmation gifts to this charity.
  • Fifteen pupils from the school received the sacrament of Confirmation in Kilmovee Parish Church, along with pupils from Kilkelly and Tavrane National Schools. The ceremony was celebrated by Fr. Vincent Sherlock as the diocese is currently without a bishop. Thank you to Mrs Warde for her preparation of the children for this very special day in their lives.
  • Well done to the Sixth Class pupils for organising a very enjoyable Easter Sale-of-Work. Along with the usual sale of toys, books and confectionary, some delicious Easter eggs were also raffled. The event raised a total of five hundred and twelve euro. Thanks to everybody who made the day such a success!
  • The six boys in Second Class received the Sacrament of First Confession in Kilkelly Church, along with the pupils of Second Class in Tavrane and Kilkelly Schools.
